The Jubilee Big Afternoon Tea Service was attended by thirty-three members and friends (twenty-eight adults and five Young People). During a service of commitment to God and the Queen a copious amount of tea, coffee and cakes were consumed. Thank you to all who donated cakes, there were so many that most were able to take some home with them even after having had their fill during the service - a certain Bible story comes to mind!
A lovely afternoon of service, cake and tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee

Due to Covid restrictions, there was no Darkhouse Nativity Service last year so stops were pulled out this year to involve all those present and to give a light-hearted approach to the Christmas story.
Following the lead (instructions) of the Narrator (Joshua), and contributions from Batel and Danyel the story, with particular involvement from two shepherds (Alfie and Kieron) was told with much laughter and made a most enjoyable Service.
Thank you to those who donated coats and socks to help keep needy folk warm. These were passed to

After two years at Bewdley Baptist Church, Denise will now spend the next two years at Darkhouse.
Denise joins Darkhouse as a Ray of Light Shining Bright For All.

Nativity Service
including Junior Church Prize Giving
Sunday, 22nd December
What a fantastic Service! Following the presentation of Junior Church prizes by Peter and Denise, the Service moved on when, led by Denise and with a large cast (who had no idea when they arrived at Church that they would be required to 'dress up', 'do actions' and, even, 'trot around the room') everyone went on a journey
- a l....o....n....g journey -
which brought them to the stable to see Mary and Joseph with their new-born baby lying in a manger.
Told (and acted) with much laughter - where else would you see the Nativity performed with five Wise Men, seven or eight shepherds for one-and-a-half-sheep and everyone needing labels to say who they were? - the story brought the whole Church together with the event being completed with a feast of cake, mince pies, tea and coffee.

236th Church Anniversary
Sunday, 13th October, 10.45 am
This special Service marking 236 years of Darkhouse was led by
Mr Roger Turley
Thanks were given for the people who walked from Coseley to Brierley Hill (approx 2 hrs), attended a 2-hour Church Service, then walked back to Coseley (approx another 2 hrs), lighting their way by carrying candles in heavy glass jars. Eventually, things became too much for them and The Dark House at Darkhouse Lane became Darkhouse Baptist Church.
Joshua helped Roger portray the story by walking round the Church six times while carrying
a candle in a large jar, so "Bringing Light into Darkhouse".
The Service which also included the offering of Talents was followed by a Coffee Morning on behalf of
West Midlands Lupus Group.

Christmas with Joe's Corner
Sunday 15th December - A very special service
To celebrate Christmas this year, Joe's Corner (together with Matt Bateman) shared their interpretation of the Nativity Story, through songs, images, poems, Bible readings and traditional carols.
They encouraged us to consider how the innocent Mary felt to be faced with such an awesome task of bringing God's Son into our world; how Joseph felt finding out his betrothed was pregnant before marriage; how the shepherds were faced with what seemed like the special effects scene of a blockbuster movie and how the wise men were led to Bethlehem. These diverse aspects of a story we know so well were brought right up to date, making them so much more believable to everyone. All of this was interspersed with Chart hits; Gospel choruses and traditional carols.
The result......A truly memorable evening was shared by those aged 1 to 81 from near and far
some from as far as Peterborough!
With mince pies, cakes, tea and coffee encouraging everyone to linger and share the fellowship at the end.
We are so proud to have this wonderful group of young men share their faith in a very special way and look forward to welcoming them back again (and again!).

Sunday 22nd December - Carols and Candles
How lovely it was to have the church lit by candles for the Service of Readings and Carols. It was good to see so many people, some not seen for a long time, singing their favourite Christmas songs and listening to well-known readings from the Bible then sharing tea/coffee, mince pies and cakes while catching up with each others' news.
Thanks go to the Readers who delivered the Christmas message so clearly, Simon for his wonderful piano interlude, the Ladies for organising the refreshments (and clearing up afterwards), David for arranging the Service and all who helped in any way to make the Carols and Candles event such a wonderful part of Christmas at Darkhouse.
